Terms & end user licence agreement

Accepting these terms

Installing Magic Scraper, or activating a Pro licence key, means you accept these terms. They are the end user licence agreement for the extension. If you do not accept them, remove the extension; if you have already paid, ask for the refund below.

The licence

Buying Pro gives you a personal, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to use Magic Scraper Pro, including future updates, on any browser or computer you personally use. There is no device limit. You may not resell the licence key, share it publicly, or redistribute a modified build as your own product.

The free version remains free and fully functional — including multi-page crawling — with or without a licence. It is licensed to you on the same terms, at no charge, for as long as you use it.

What you are buying, and what you are not

A licence, not the software. Magic Scraper and its source code remain the property of its author; nothing here transfers ownership, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved. You may not sell, sublicense, rent or publish the software or a key, decompile or reverse engineer it except where law permits regardless of contract, or remove its notices and branding and pass the result off as your own.

The extension is not open source. The website and the Northwind Supply sandbox are published under Apache 2.0 and you are welcome to fork them; the extension is not covered by that licence and is governed by this page alone.

Ending the licence

Your licence ends if you refund your purchase, or if you breach the restrictions above — in particular by redistributing keys or builds. On ending, stop using Pro features and remove the extension; the key stops activating. Nothing you have already exported is affected: your data was always yours and never passed through us.

Refunds

Email within 7 days of purchase with your licence key for a full refund. Purchases are processed by Gumroad, who act as merchant of record; refunds are issued through them. Your licence ends with the refund and the key can no longer be activated.

The free version exists so you can judge the paid one before paying. It crawls pagination with no page limit, exports everything it collects, brings back a run whose tab died, and runs drill-down on the first 3 rows of a run — enough to see exactly which fields come back from your own sites. Pro opens drill-down on every row, and adds saved setups you can reuse, comparing a run with the previous one of the same list, and running a saved setup on a schedule. Trying it on the sites you actually care about will tell you more than any description.

Magic Snippers

These terms apply in the same way to the Magic Snippers extension and its Pro licence: wherever this page says Magic Scraper or Pro, read Magic Snippers and Magic Snippers Pro. It is a separate product with a separate licence key — a Magic Scraper licence does not unlock it, nor the other way round — and it is refundable on the same terms, within 7 days. Its free version captures the first 3 links of every drill-down run, so you can see exactly what you would get from your own sites before paying.

Using it responsibly

Magic Scraper reads pages your browser has already loaded, as you. It does not bypass logins, paywalls, rate limits or bot protection, and it is not designed to.

Whether you may collect data from a particular site is between you and that site. Before scraping, consider the site's terms of service, its robots.txt, applicable copyright and database rights, and — if the data concerns people — data-protection law such as the GDPR. Pace your requests: the speed setting exists so that you can be a considerate visitor, and the default is deliberately gentle.

You are responsible for what you collect and what you do with it. Do not use this tool to harvest personal data without a lawful basis, to evade access controls, or to place an unfair load on someone else's infrastructure.

No warranty

Magic Scraper is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. Websites change constantly; detection that works today may not work on a site that is redesigned tomorrow. I fix what I reasonably can, but I cannot guarantee that any particular site will work, keep working, or produce complete or accurate data. Check your exports before relying on them.

To the extent permitted by law, my liability for any claim relating to this software is limited to the amount you paid for it. I am not liable for lost data, lost profits, or any consequence of how the data you collect is used.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of Magic Scraper is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Philippine courts.

If you bought as a consumer, this does not take away rights your own country's consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement — including, in the Philippines, your rights under the Consumer Act. Where a clause here conflicts with such a right, that right wins and the rest of these terms continue to apply.

Changes

These terms may change as the product does. The date at the top says when they last did. Changes apply going forward, not retroactively to a purchase already made.
